35. The Story of Keaton's Kindness Club - Holly Barrón
Listen to this episode
Overview
Meet Holly. She's the mom of a truly incredible kid. Eight years ago, Keaton was diagnosed with leukemia, and while he battled this terrible disease, he thought about using his journey as a way to instill random acts of kindness into the world. And when he did, amazing things happened. We're embracing Keaton's goal to infuse more kindness, courage, compassion, and caring into the world in the spirit of fighting for a cure for pediatric cancer.

Powerful Quotes:
“When the kids get a procedure they get to pick a toy out of a toy closet. Keaton would pick out toys and bring them home to his brothers.” -Holly
“It was a privilege to be Keaton’s parent. We didn’t do anything he was just born this way.” -Holly
“Keaton was the embodiment of love and kindness. Here you have an 8 year old boy that is doing the things that we as adults aspire to do and model for our kids in our lives.” -Becky
“I firmly believe that this was Keaton’s gift to us.” -Holly
“We worked 24/7 for Keaton, and it was our honor and privilege to do that, so when we didn’t have that opportunity anymore we needed something to pour our energy into, and this gave us that opportunity.” -Holly
“We lost our child but the world lost this amazing soul that could have done so much, so we are keeping that going.” -Holly
“When people say, “Oh I can’t imagine” I say, “Please don’t try.” -Holly
“When the world feels out of control, find a way to do something for somebody else.” -Holly
“There is somebody you can thank for something. Get out of your own worry for a little bit.” -Holly
“We can always choose kindness, especially in the darkness. That is when we need to seek out the light. We are grieving the loss of Keaton, but I feel hope because we can all subscribe to his ideal.” -Becky
