How to Ask Your Boss for Professional Development Budget
Do your research.
Build a case for what you’ve already maximized that’s free (podcasts, LinkedIn Lives, free virtual conferences, etc.)
Outline the ideas that the free resources have given you and share why this investment fills a gap that can’t currently be met with free offerings.
Be sure to talk about the importance of community in learning.
Anticipate questions - Be prepared with costs, duration, what you hope to learn, how it can be applied.
PRO TIP: offer to come back and share what you’ve learned with the team so knowledge sharing grows internally
Now be brave and go initiate the conversation
